Payroll Manager Job at Nine Energy
OBJECTIVE
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the processing of payroll for US and Canadian employees and for supporting and validating ADP Work Force Now (HRIS) transactions. This position will ensure that all payroll transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with all applicable state and federal pay regulations and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee processing of biweekly payroll for 1,000+ employees
· Stays current with all local state and federal regulations and reporting requirements
· Stays updated with SOX controls and monitors procedures accordingly
· Works with districts throughout the company and understands their processes regarding timekeeping and payroll
· Coordinates with HRIS representatives to establish new deductions, earnings codes, departments, and locations as necessary
· Registers states for withholding and unemployment taxes as required
· Partner with HRIS to assess enhancements and upgrade functionality for the payroll system
· Maintain integrity of employee data by conducting audits to ensure accuracy
· Interact frequently with company management as required
· Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operation
· Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
· Manage and prepare payroll reports to meet management and business needs including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
· Work with third party vendors directly such as Fidelity and ADP for payroll related matters
· Work with internal and external auditors to provide data and field questions as needed
· Reviews and reconciles Canadian payroll
· Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
· Supervise full and part time staff to ensure their successful performance and efficient payroll processes
· Provides training to payroll staff on policies, regulations, and processes
EXPERIENCE
- Must have 5+ years of payroll and applicable HRIS experience including multi-state payrolls with varying tax jurisdictions
- Working knowledge of oil and gas industry or similar, applicable industry
- Must have experience with ADP products including HRIS and payroll, preferably Work Force Now
- Must have strong communications skills with the capability of communicating with all levels of employees
- Ability to prioritize challenging demands, work independently and manage time effectively
- Possess a high level of integrity and the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
- Must be detail oriented, possess strong planning and organizing skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
- CPP or FPC professional certification desirable
- Basic accounting knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
