Under close or general supervision, performs routine maintenance and repair services to streets, storm drain utility, maintenance equipment and related public facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds and landscape areas in order to ensure that grounds and landscape areas are presentable, clean and safe.
• Maintains and repairs storm drain system to reduce street flooding.
• Performs a variety of facility maintenance work on public properties in order to ensure a clean and safe environment for the public, Village employees, and to minimize major repair/replacement costs and/or extend the useful life of equipment/fixtures.
• Inspects, cleans gutters, storm drains, sidewalks, etc. in order to provide a clean and safe environment for the public. This includes cleaning blocked drains and removing debris from storm drain structures. Cleaning and repairing damaged pipe.
• Prepares a variety of log sheets in order to document work activities, track equipment usage and provide summary information to management.
• Maintains a variety of maintenance and construction related equipment in order to ensure that the equipment operates safely and appropriately when needed.
• Supports Sanitation Division, as needed.
• Performs related work, as required.
• Complies with Village regulations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, understand and follow instructions/guidelines associated with a variety of general maintenance work.
• Ability to learn to perform a variety of work activities associated with general maintenance work.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach and/or climb to complete assigned work activities.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperature/weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 30 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with electrical and handyman-type work
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid State of Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• CDL class A or B license.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.23 per hour
