While each team member has primary duties, they are also cross-trained to be able to help our team and patients in other areas of the office where needed. They greet each patient with a friendly and professional demeanor and convey the confidence, knowledge, and attention to detail that our patients have come to trust.
As a part of our team, the Optometric Technicians perform crucial tests necessary for patients to proceed to an exam with our optometrists. They also assist optometrists during the exams, which requires use of a variety of optical equipment. Optometric technicians also manage the ordering of contact lenses for the office.
Our ideal candidates have prior experience in an optometry practice, but we are willing to train the right candidates who want to provide excellent customer service and grow with our company.
Job Summary: Optometric Technician
Primary Responsibilities
- Obtaining patient history, chief complaint, medications & allergies
- Conducting diagnostic tests including autorefraction, lensometer, retinal photography, and tonometry
- Recording & measuring visual acuity
- Conducting special tests including visual field testing and OCT
- Scheduling appointments
- Monitor patient schedule and communicate with other staff and doctors
- Training new contact lens wearers
- Ordering contact lenses and managing diagnostic and stock contact lens inventory
- Order pharmaceuticals and exam room supplies
Secondary Responsibilities
- Answer phones and back-up front desk
- Assist patients with eyewear purchases
- Dispense eyewear
- Adjustment and repair of eyewear
Requirements and Qualifications
- Service-oriented, positive attitude
- Friendly demeanor and professional appearance
- Prior experience in an optometry environment preferred but not required
- High school diploma or GED certificate
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
