The Operational Resilience Associate is responsible for contribution to the development, implementation, and maintenance of SMBC's Operational Resilience framework to ensure operational readiness and response to business disruption events. They will assist in the development of resilience strategies, policies, and framework specific to SMBC that reflect changes to the environment and business operations. They will deliver business analytics and report, monitor, and analyze key risk and control indicators. The Operational Resilience Associate is a key contributor to the Operational Resilience program and will assist in defining and delivering SMBC's Operational Resilience program.
The Operational Resilience team is accountable for (1) pre-emptively identifying and mitigating threats to operating Resiliency Objectives, and (2) preparedness for, and risk management of, incidents that may impact those objectives.
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $82,000 and $112,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
- Assist in establishing, maintaining, and embedding enterprise level Operational Resilience Framework, policies, and programs across the Americas Division.
- Liaise with business partners to classify and map important business services, core processes, and underlying asset dependencies, to assess criticality and associated risks.
- Maintain and monitor ongoing basis triggers, escalation, and mitigating actions of the relevant metrics
- Assist in the coordination of operational resilience regulatory engagements and responses, including the preparation of materials.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of deliverables and strategic direction across the 4 Pillars of Operational Resilience (1.) Business Resilience, (2.) Technology Resilience, (3.) Third Party Resilience, and (4.) Cyber Resilience; closely partnering with the 2nd Line of Defense from a control and oversight perspective
- Work with team members to develop and implement key program components across required Operational Development / Testing, Crisis Management, and Education & Awareness
- Drive efforts around education, awareness, and adoption of the Business Resilience program across AD. Foster and grow a "Culture of Resilience" at SMBC
- Develop and update materials in support of Operational Resilience, including policies and standards, frameworks and methodologies, overviews, and educational guidance.
- Assist in the development and participation in tabletop exercises to test the capacity and effectiveness of the Operational Resilience Crisis Plan.
- Experience in any core competencies across the 4 Pillars of Operational Resilience (1.) Business Resilience, (2.) Technology Resilience, (3.) Third Party Resilience, and (4.) Cyber Resilience.
- Exposure to key program components across required Operational Resilience workstreams, including, without limitation: Governance, Scenario Development / Testing, Crisis Management, Education & Awareness.
