Position Summary:

Performs direct and indirect patient care duties under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist or other appropriately licensed professional.

• COTA Licensed required
• High school graduate or equivalent required, AA or college student preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications
• One or more years of hospital or nursing experience as rehab aide preferred
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
• Basic computer, charting and knowledge of office equipment (copier, fax, etc.)
• Patience, empathy and the ability to get along with multiple personality types
• Must be able to execute the physical duties of the position (transferring, lifting and supporting patients with proper techniques, pushing wheelchairs and other therapy equipment, donning/doffing equipment as needed, etc.)

Responsibilities:

• Assists with patient transport and transfers – taking them to and from treatment rooms
• Performs care duties/tasks under the direct supervision of a registered therapist
• Assists registered therapists in routine treatments of rehabilitation, acute or other patient therapy needs including set up and cleaning of equipment
• Assists patients with transfer activities to all surfaces (mats, chairs, equipment, etc.)
• Positions and prepares patients for standing or other exercises using orthotic/prosthetic devices and other equipment
• Assists therapist with other patient related treatment activities as trained/instructed
