Obstetrics’’ (OB) Nursing Manager is a registered nurse with demonstrated expertise in nursing. The OB Nursing Manager has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, nursing staff, and OB operations. The OB Nursing Manager works collaboratively with the Leadership team to facilitate efficient clinical operations, staff development, effective management of resources, and quality improvement in the OB.

The OB Nursing Manager partners with the Director of Patient Care Services to support and provide oversight of daily OB operations. The OB Nursing Manager will monitor OB staffing and operations. This position is responsible for supporting a safe and therapeutic work environment. The Manager will be clinically oriented to work in the OB as a team member in order to provide assistance when unit needs exceed available resources and to work one bedside shift per pay period.

The OB Nursing Manager communicates and collaborates with a variety of staff including nursing leadership, medical staff, support staff, case management, social work, and other departments to appropriately plan, direct, evaluate, and review care for patients and their families. This position requires expertise in problem solving, decision making, and communication (written and verbal) skills when interacting with these various disciplines.

The OB Nursing Manager, under the direction of and in collaboration with the Director of Patient Care Services, is responsible for hiring, performance evaluations, and addressing staff/team performance issues. Additional responsibilities include implementation of quality control and improvement, satisfaction of patients, families, staff, and providers, review and revision of policies and procedures, professional and clinical development of staff, outlining orientation plans, staff scheduling, and assisting in planning and conducting staff meetings.

The OB Nursing Manager has educational responsibilities within the disciplines of nursing and the hospital. The OB Nursing Manager utilizes an understanding of State Regulatory principles to ensure standards of excellence are fostered and met. The OB Nursing Manager participates in and may lead performance improvement work in the OB Department in a manner consistent with the GVH standard expectations. They also closely work with OB Nursing and other leaders as applicable to provide orientees with sufficient training and education opportunities to develop and enhance their skills and competence in the care of patients in the OB Department.

Education: Minimum: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience: Leadership Experience within the last two years. Training and experience in area of expertise.

Licenses/Certification: Minimum: Current Colorado Registered Nurse License (or compact state RN license)

Compensation: $43.44 - $59.73/hr, depending on experience.

Full Time staff are automatically enrolled in 401A plan as of date of hire.

Life and AD&D insurance: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month after hire date.

Short-term and long-term disability: All active employees working 60 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month after hire date.
