Innovations for Learning is a non-profit organization actively seeking part time Early Literacy Interventionists (Tutors) who want to make a difference in the lives of elementary students across Broward County for the 2022-2023 school year.

And the best part is, no specific degree required as IFL fully trains qualified college graduated applicants.

Innovations for Learning believes that every child deserves their basic civil right to learn to read proficiently by the end of first grade and our team of Early Learning Interventionists are foundational to this mission.

IFL selects highly motivated, energetic individuals who love working with young children and are really looking to make a difference in their lives.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Reliable transportation
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday for a minimum of 3 hours per day (morning - early afternoon availability preferred)
  • Completion of the school district background check

**No prior teaching/tutoring experience is required for the right candidate

Scope of Work:

  • Provide initial placement and benchmark assessments during the school year
  • Develop a targeted approach of delivering 1:1 conferencing instruction to students using a variety of activities to reinforce phonemic awareness and word attack skills.
  • Document each high dosage tutoring session with a note reviewing the skills practiced or mastered and a goal for the next session.
  • Assign new practice skills during each session.
  • Challenge students to reach each new goal and celebrate student success.
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with classroom instructors, reading interventionists, coaches, and administrators the current data and outcomes.
  • Update the student independent practice, Student Portal, application as needed and troubleshoot tablet devices.
  • Coach teachers in the use of Teacher Portal with students for guided reading groups.
  • Integrate into each classroom as an additional intervention for students with individualized longitudinal data.

The IFL ELI role provides 1:1 support to their students, crucial for individual growth. Because of this, many ELIs develop a deep and lasting rapport with the students and become another meaningful adult in the lives of the children served.

  • 4 hour shift
  • Day shift

Weekly day range:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
