SUMMARY: This is a flexible part time position, 28 hrs/week year-round to support the production needs of Daily’s Premium Meats. As general laborer you will provide day-to-day assistance in the slicing and packaging of product. Responsible for understanding Daily’s food security guidelines and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Attention to detail/organizational skills
  • Strict compliance with Safe Quality Foods requirements
  • Work at a pace consistent with the required line speed
  • Maintain accurate counts
  • Follow procedures outlined by leadership team
  • Minimize scrap at all times
  • Sweeping floor and aisles as instructed
  • Follow specifications/adhere to product specifications to ensure quality
  • Keeping accurate records as needed
  • Palletize and organize boxes
  • Keeping all trash and items picked up
  • Follow all GMP’s required by policy
  • Tasks and other duties as assigned to better serve production needs
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos preferred. Ability to write simple correspondence preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and management. Bilingual skills preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations preferred.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee is working in an area of raw meat and must be willing and able to handle raw product. The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 18 lbs, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the production area. Employee will be standing/walking on concrete floors for 10+ hours per day, 6 days per week. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. Must be able to wear OSHA approved hearing protection.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
