SUMMARY: WinTec Arrowmaker, Inc. is a defense contractor dedicated to providing outstanding program management, engineering, logistics, and operations support to Department of Defense customers. This position is for a Mission Rehearsal Training Team, responsible for supporting U-28 initial qualification, upgrade qualification, and continuation training sorties by emulating friendly and opposing ground forces. A friendly force team lead emulates a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Ground Force Commander (GFC), or air assets. The opposing force team lead directs personnel to mimic enemy Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). Operations are conducted using encrypted radios. Supported aircraft includes PC-12, C-145, C-146, MC-130, and CV-22 tilt-rotor aircraft.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leading both friendly and opposing forces to allow for maximum flexibility in scenario management; serving (roleplaying) as a friendly forces team leader in the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and Ground Force Commander (GFC) roles, which includes performing scheme of maneuver and radio communications duties; serving (roleplaying) as opposing forces team lead, which involves employing applicable enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Ensuring vehicle operation, COMSEC, and individual augmentee safety while conducting operations; providing vehicle and/or pedestrian control measures are in place as required by air traffic control (ATC) standards.
- Utilizing Night Vision Devices (NVDs) whenever possible to aid in training accomplishment and enhancement.
- Employing new techniques and technologies presented by the government to keep procedures and capabilities abreast of mission requirements; adapting to new government-provided equipment reconfiguration, upgrade, and modernization.
- Operating a variety of transportation modes to arrive at these locations, including all-terrain vehicles, high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles, and motorcycles.
- Assembling, operating, and monitoring all radios.
- Conducting weather observations in accordance with FAA JO 7110.65, Chapter 2, Sections 6 and 7 such as measuring surface wind velocity and direction to all aircraft and altimeter, pressure altitude, and temperature.
- Operating a wide range of specialized equipment, weapons, and vehicles including, laser pointers, UHF/VHF/FM/HF/SATCOM radios, current Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, overt/covert lights, and marking devices and pyrotechnics.
- Recording and documenting all incidents, accidents, and malfunctions; answering questions about events in the training area for users, range authorities, and/or the host squadron; providing details of pre-mission, mission, and post-mission procedures.
- Conducting landing zone usability assessments; scoring procedures and surveys in accordance with AFI 13-217, Chapters 2 and 3.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience transporting and using munitions in classes 1.3 and 1.4.
- Must have a SOF background or be familiar with special operations procedures and requirements.
- Familiar and proficient with all assigned radios, attachments, and accessories.
- Ability to operate radios in secure mode with Communications Security (COMSEC).
- Must have fundamental land navigation/map, compass, and GPS skills sufficient enough to read and locate using latitude and longitude and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)/Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) coordinates, boundaries, points of origin, point of impact, impact/strike points and other locations during all training missions.
- Familiar with military command and control structures, working knowledge of the organizational interface of military, federal, state, and local agencies.
- Ability to use, operate, and control simulated IEDs, smoke grenades, ground burst simulators blank ammunition, and other training pyrotechnics as required in the execution of all OPFOR-related activities.
- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid AF Form 483 Certificate of Competency for explosive transportation qualification and other documents for the use of explosives.
- Ability to marshal aircraft in accordance with AFI 11-218, Chapter 2.
- Must complete the approved AFSOC LZSO training, all required local orientation, and be certified by a letter signed by the 1 SOG/CC within 30 calendar days of starting.
