Mechanical Project Engineer - RMA Corp. Houston, TX Job at Ravago Americas
Purpose
Support Senior Project Engineer on Capital Projects at current RMA facilities and/or greenfield projects involving planning, execution, as well as for day-to-day operations, mechanical and process performance of the RMA manufacturing operations.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. This position will require competence in the following manufacturing engineering and design areas:
a. Working on capital projects with RMA hired architect to develop site planning and equipment general arrangement layouts for green field operations and within existing RMA manufacturing facilities.
b. Developing and controlling Mechanical piping systems for supporting manufacturing equipment such as pneumatic product conveying, compressed air, process water and cooling systems and etc.
c. Working with RMA stakeholders to develop equipment support platforms such as operator working stations or tiered mezzanines.
d. Collaborate with RMA CAD Specialist to develop project support drawing packages such as PFD’s (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), GA’s (General Arrangement drawings)
e. Work with RMA CAD Specialist and vendor equipment suppliers for equipment approvals to ensure equipment fit and function.
f. and other custom metal items. etc.
g. Preferrable to have knowledge of the following manufacturing processes:
i. Twin screw polymer compounding
ii. Pellet and powder material conveying systems
iii. Plastics resin recycling processes
h. Preferrable to be proficient in 2D AutoCAD software usage.
2. equipment / installation standards, “Capacity Plan System of Record”, etc.) for assigned projects.
3. Maintain financial controls to ensure approved Capex Budgets are not exceeded.
4. Support SR Project Engineer on high visibility responsibilities including acting as backup when scheduling conflicts occur.
5. NO BAD CAPEX success is measured by:
a. Zero safety issues during project planning and implementation.
b. Finished project actual spending at or below approved Capex budget.
c. Positive performance feedback from our customers (external = direct sales / tolling, and internal = Plant Manager).
6. Assist in the completion of special projects.
7. Follow all Ravago Quality, Safety and Environmental Procedures.
8. Uphold the Ravago Code of Conduct standards.
9. Other duties as assigned by Sr. Project Engineer.
Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred (or equivalent work experience).
2. Travel to project sites and equipment suppliers as required.
3. 5 + years of Engineering and Manufacturing design experience.
4. Must have experience and demonstrated success for completing large capital projects ($5 million + ) on‐time, on‐budget and safely.
5. Lead with a “Sell, Not tell” style and ensure systems are performing using a Management by Walking Around (MBWA)style. Consistently display highest levels of Code of Conduct leadership behavior.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication.
7. Detail oriented, attention to accuracy and ability to multi‐task and GET A JOB DONE.
8. Proficient in Microsoft office suite Excel, Power Point and Project.
