Job Purpose: Oversee the engineering and drafting on various construction, maintenance and repair projects for the Company, and work in cooperation with various departments on these projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Prepare budgets for assigned projects, including estimating and obtaining bids to support costs, and assist the accounting department in the tracking of costs for these projects for comparison purposes.
• Participate in obtaining, reviewing and negotiating bids from 3rd party subcontractors and vendors, and develop and maintain positive working relationships with these 3rd party subcontractors and vendors.
• Research and remain knowledgeable and current about applicable engineering codes and standards, local, State and Federal building permits and regulations, and Company directives.
• Follow along projects from start to completion and continually communicate with the team and management regarding the status of projects, troubleshooting, budget changes, etc.
• Coordinate the tracking, ordering and construction of various replacement and spare components and pieces of equipment with the various Company Divisions.
• Prepare and review detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
• Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
• Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
• Confer with vendors to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
• Supervise and train drafters, technologists, and technicians.
• Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner.
