Marketing Accountant Job at Gulfport Energy
Job Summary:
The Marketing Accountant will assist in accrual, month end accounting and allocation activities associated with the Company’s crude oil, natural gas and NGL’s.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviews and approves accuracy of monthly settlement statements and invoices based on contractual terms, applying industry practices
- Invoices the counterparties with regards to marketed products
- Works with counterparties’ accounting groups primarily to resolve any disputes and correctly capture the terms on transactions but also has the ability to communicate with trading and scheduling
- Collaborates with company’s Front and Mid-office functions to problem solve, support timely process, and increase report accuracy
- Allocates the product sales to the associated gathering source
- Assists Accounting to process and book prepared data
- Analyzes data and providing various Back Office reporting and projects for the Marketing department and inter-company
- Maintains compliance with all regulatory and company policies and procedures
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Sound working knowledge of marketing operations with regards to settlement of POP/Wellhead gas, Residue gas, crude and natural gas liquids, Transportation, Gas Balancing, wellhead to burner tip
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong oral and communication skills
- Experience with routine accounting cycles and strict deadlines
- Highly motivated individual with ability to work in fast paced environment, with strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, Business or other relevant field of study
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a technical role of Midstream, Marketing and/or Revenue operations
- Sound knowledge and understanding of industry terminology and practices
- Knowledge of Excel; general typing and computer knowledge required
- Allegro and Merrick/ProCount preferred
- Self-starter, capable of thinking outside the box and willing to positively challenge those around him or her
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments deal with interruptions and meet daily deadlines
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time
- Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines
- Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to concentrate
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, along with equipment necessary to design, draw, and execute plans.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to drive for long periods of time or walk and/or stand in all types of weather for long periods of time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company.
Travel:
Minimal is expected for this position.
