The Manager, National Merchandising will lead a team of merchandising analysts to negotiate, plan, and execute competitive promotional events and advertising of independent customers. In addition, you will manage trade funding with manufacturers in a manner that grows topline sales while achieving budgeted margins. You will also be tasked with creating and implementing innovative promotional merchandising programs for the independent customers that are marketplace competitive and foster collaborative working relationships with our key National manufacturer and broker partners.
Job Description

• Location: Keene, NH; Windsor Locks, CT; or North Hatfield, MA

You will contribute by:

• Leading the merchandisers in the creation and implementation of promotional plans for center store grocery categories across our Independent divisions
• Collaborating with our Regional Merchandising Leads to develop programs that are National in scope and Regionally competitive
• Leading the Merchandising Analysts in collaborative promotional planning sessions with Manufacturer and Broker partners
• Attending Business Reviews as scheduled with the VP/Sr. Director of Department with National Manufacturers and Brokers
• Managing and analyzing trade funds with our Merchandising Analysts to ensure competitiveness across our Independent divisions
• Managing and executing special projects that are set forth by senior management.
• Assisting the merchandising team with vendor issues, credit requests, paybacks, funding tracking, etc.
• Working with teams to hit the KPI goals for Independent Merchandising and individuals as set by the Sr. Director of the department.
• Managing personnel both hourly and salaried employees in the merchandising department.
• Assisting in hiring process, training, and evaluations for employee development for assigned team members; coach, develop and mentor staff.

We’re searching for candidates with:

• An understanding of core competencies of wholesale model, ability to manage others, understanding of commodities and how they work
• Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain or procurement
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel, negotiation, organization, prioritization, problem solving skills
• Ability to set and communicate direction accordingly
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• 7-10: years of related work and supervisory experience
