JOB SUMMARY:
Operator I is responsible for operating glass-cutting equipment to produce custom cut-to-size glass. The operator is responsible for maintaining the equipment through daily, weekly, and as-needed preventive maintenance. The operator supports the cutting staff ensuring the product produced is to specification. Additionally, the operator handles glass and supports the team as required within the cutting department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up glass equipment for production
- Operates glass loading and cutting equipment
- Enters daily schedules via Manual Data Input (MDI)
- Selects schedules for production via cutting software
- Uses scanning and/or computer equipment to check and record processed orders
- Checks the Quality of product produced initially and throughout the day as required.
- Basic troubleshooting of equipment functions
- Supports cutting staff handling and offloading glass
- Basic Preventative Maintenance.
- Ability to multi-task with the operation of equipment and interactions with team members
- Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIOS:
Education:
High School diploma or GED, vocational machine shop training preferred
Experience:
1 year of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Ability to perform basic computer skills
Mathematical Abilities:
Basic Math. Ability to read a tape measure. Understand fractions and decimals, and ability to convert fractions and decimals.
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:
Analytical reasoning/problem-solving skills
Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)
Effective communication skills written and oral in English and Spanish (preferred)
Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities)
Basic diagrams and specs sheet print reading.
Team-oriented individual, flexible, and adaptable to a continuous improvement environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to lift/pull/push 50 lbs. up to 50 % of the shift.
- Must be able to stand/walk/bend/twist for prolonged periods of up to 10 hours/day as needed per production area.
- Ability to make repetitive motions on the machine up to 40 % of the shift

- Work is on the manufacturing floor interfacing with employees, and inspectors, monitoring, and supporting the cutting team throughout the shift.
- Shop floor environment is not controlled. Temperatures vary and conditions may be hot or cold.
- Use of proper PPE as required per company policy
Work Arrangement : Onsite
Salary Range : $17.00 - $19.00
