About the role

kea is looking for a Lead Engineer for our Machine Learning team. You should be a seasoned Software Engineer who has led a software team before and shipped a product containing a strong AI/ML component. You are a leader who embraces Software Engineering best practices and uses them to lead a team to shipping reliable, well-tested, and high-quality code. You can code in whatever language you need to and you are not bothered by working on other people's code. You collaborate effortlessly with internal team members and external teams and are able to align on technical vision with other Leads and Architects. When you meet with your team members, you help them not only with their work, their professional development, understand their issues, and help them succeed in their roles. Most importantly, you must relish the challenge of developing ownership of a cutting-edge AI automation platform, containing a blend of Conversational Design, AI/ML Models, and Restaurant-Industry specific technology.

What your day-to-day looks like

• Set achievable delivery goals with the Product Owner and Project Manager and ensure the team meets them
• Make strong contributions to the automation platform code, and review the contributions of other team members - ensuring they meet Software Engineering best practices
• Continually evaluate automation performance and identify areas for improvement
• Meet regularly with management to highlight issues encountered by the team

What sets you up for success

• 5+ years of software engineering and 2+ years as a lead, including machine learning experience
• Strong understanding of Automated Speech Recognition, machine learning models, data analysis, and supervised learning methods
• End-to-end experience with model design, development, and MLOps
• Proficiency in writing production-quality code in Python and Typescript / Javascript on Node.js
• Experience with Conversational Design
• You enjoy helping to define and solve open-ended problems
