Log Yard Supervisor Job at Besse Forest Products
Besse Forest Products Group, headquartered in Gladstone, MI, is one of the leading producers of hardwood lumber, veneer, and plywood in North America operating four sawmills, lumber concentration yard, three veneer mills, one plywood plant, and employs over 350 people.
We are currently seeking a Log Yard Supervisor for Goodman Veneer and Lumber located in Goodman, Wisconsin.
Key Areas of Responsibilities Include:
- Supervises, trains and coordinates activities of workers within the log yard
- Maintains a safe and efficient working environment
- Manages log yard inventory
- Optimizes overall log yard layout to achieve maximum utilization and volume efficiency to minimize log yard costs
- Ensures log yard operations comply with all federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Wood Products background preferred
- Knowledge identifying log species and grades
- Forklift and log yard equipment operation is a plus
- Familiar with rolling stock
- Interest in working outdoors in the fresh air
- Managerial or supervisory experience is preferred
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational skills; provides strong leadership in the areas of safety and efficiency
