Position Scope
Under general supervision, performs complex and highly skilled technical service duties within the public library.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Provides oversight and implementation of library material records and collection development software within the Library Division.
- Maintains consistency in the cataloging, classification and physical processing of library materials.
- Performs cataloging, acquisition and processing of library materials.
- Provides technical advice to library staff concerning collection development reports, acquisition reports, Polaris collection and circulation reports.
- Assists with staff technology training concerning collection development resources, library material records and customer overdue accounts.
- Prepares and reviews statistical and analytical reports of collection development activities, operations and procedures; gathers and compiles data for reports.
- Monitors and reviews trends in library collection development and collection processing best practices; recommends operational and policy improvements.
- Processes interlibrary loans including researching for location and availability of items.
- Monitors regular supplies of interlibrary loan and processing materials.
- Processes library material orders and verifies library purchases per collection development criteria.
- Provides monthly data driven collection and circulation reports to management.
- Monitors and processes overdue customer accounts.
- Monitors integrated library system for discrepancies and makes corrections when necessary.
- Monitors integrated eBook records for discrepancies and makes corrections when necessary.
- Assists in creating record sets for display and promotion.
- Develops and maintains professional contacts with other library organizations.
- Maintains standards and accuracy in the integrated library system software.
- Oversee and conduct annual inventory of the library system collections.
- Prepare weekly deposits of cash funds within Tyler Cashiering.
- Serves customers at the circulation desk performing such activities as check-in and check-out of library materials and customer registration.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications & Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
Associates degree with three (3) years library technical services experience, (including one (1) year cataloging experience) OR any combination of education and experience providing requisite knowledge and skills to perform job duties is required. Experience in municipal or government workplace preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- City policies and procedures.
- Principles and practices of cataloging books and materials under Dewey Decimal System and Library of Congress system.
- Library organization, procedures, terminology, practices and trends.
- Data driven collection management software.
- Library automation software; extracting overdue reports.
- Basic knowledge of SQL.
Skill in:
- Operations of various library software programs, examples include Polaris, Communico and CollectionHQ.
- Developing, coordinating and conducting staff training concerning collection and circulation reports.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with employees, community groups, vendor representatives and the general public.
- Operating standard office equipment, laminator, laptop, IPad, eReaders, flatbed scanner, barcode scanner, RFID conversion station, Microsoft Office and related software.
- Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
- Researching library computer systems.
- Providing effective customer service with tact and courtesy.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
Additional Information
Special Requirements: Valid Arizona Drivers License. Typical schedule will be five (5) eight (8) hour days per week. Evening hours and weekend work required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in a Public Library.
Reports To: Library Manager
Supervision Exercised: May provide direction to Library Assistants.
Work Schedule: Days and hours worked to be established by department based on needs.
