This is a US remote-based position
In recent years, LGBTQ communities have been targeted with legislation and hate designed to roll back hard-won gains. At the same time LGBTQ communities and individuals have been fighting back, they're also starting families and caring for loved ones, launching new business ventures, serving their communities as civic leaders, making art, celebrating in joy and simply existing on their own terms.
We've always strived to be inclusive in our work, and now are looking for a reporter to focus on LGBTQ communities. This reporter should be experienced (at least 2 years), knowledgeable and well-sourced enough to break news and respond to emerging events with smart analysis. They should also be able to produce lively features and stories that show queer people in their full humanity. Most importantly, they will listen to LGBTQ communities and write the stories that matter most to them.

Other responsibilities will include:
- Building a beat from the ground up to connect with LGBQT communities, finding the throughlines that connect communities across the country.
- Producing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting exclusively for Reckon that helps our audiences be seen, understood and tackle the challenges as the emerge.
- Being involved in the content creation for regular newsletters and play a role in engagement with newsletter and growth of brand
- Ongoing monitoring of and participation in conversations happening on social media and in the communities we cover
- A monthly engagement project in collaboration with audience team (i.e. Twitter Space, Reddit AMA, live video, listening project, etc.)
- Occasionally producing multimedia elements including photo, video, audio for native social content
