Job Summary
The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at Gonzaga University is seeking applicants for a one-year fixed term position (with potential of renewal). This position will teach and service kinesiology majors including student pursuing teaching certification. Responsibilities include: instruction of courses, field placements, supervision of teacher candidates, advising, and serving on committees associated with teacher certification.
Additionally, this position will participate in department functions. The ideal candidate is dedicated to teaching excellence, steady contribution through involvement in related professional societies/organizations, advising and consulting with teacher certification and pedagogy students, and participation in the University community. The department is committed to sustainable programs, attentive advising, and strong departmental teamwork.

Essential Functions
- Teach 24 credits of undergraduate courses during the academic year in our kinesiology and physical education teaching certification programs
- Collaborate with department, School of Education, and community partners
- Attend and contribute department and program meetings and other committees as needed.
- Place and supervise candidates in field experiences
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate in Physical Education Pedagogy, Sport Pedagogy, or related field.
- ABD applicants may be considered, with expectation that the candidate will have degree in hand by July 15, 2023
- Master’s Degree considered with experience meeting other requirements of this position. Minimum 7+ years of experience
- Evidence of teaching experience in K-12 health/physical education setting
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience teaching students with diverse backgrounds, identities and experiences.
