Acceptable Experience & Training
Valid Idaho State Teaching Certificate- Preferred, not required, minimum of 10 years successful and effective teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, collaboration, conflict resolution, planning, teamwork and organization techniques;
- Ability to design collaborative, job-embedded, standards-based professional learning through coaching, modeling and mentoring.

The Learning Coach will use the practices of a research-based coaching framework and core practices to provide support to teachers across grade levels and content areas. Coaching will be driven by student outcomes and will lead to the implementation of effective instructional practices in the classroom. This position will work in collaboration with District and School leadership, teachers, and the other learning coaches to build a community that supports student learning.
The Learning Coach position is intended to facilitate and promote student learning, close the student achievement gap, and accelerate learning for all students by building teacher capacity through implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies. This position requires the Learning Coach to have experience with, or a willingness to learn, how to implement the core practices of a research-based coaching model.
Using research-based coaching strategies, Learning Coaches will work with staff in their assigned building to provide support for the implementation of research-based instructional strategies promoting student learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate a research-based coaching model (“learning cycles”) across grade levels and content areas.- Implement “learning cycles” designed to foster collaboration among teachers and provide differentiated support for individual teachers.
- Develop teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of evidence to improve student learning.
- Build trusting, credible, respectful, and professional relationships with teachers.
- Collaborate with other Learning Coaches to facilitate professional learning engaging in reflective dialogue.
- Collaborate with teachers to create a culture of rigor, inquiry, and reflection by probing ideas and further pressing students to explore their intellect.
- Co-plan with teachers to guide the development of progressive and effective unit and lesson plans.
- Regularly collect and use student evidence to inform instructional practices.
- Model being a reflective practitioner and provide support for others as they reflect on their impact on student learning.
- Have experience with, or a willingness to learn, how to implement the core practices for a research-based coaching model.
- Partner with the principal to build a culture for coaching.
- Consistently analyze instructional strategies through ongoing student observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure student ownership, engagement, and choice.
- Collaborate with teams of teachers to unpack curricular units, identifying clarity and the expectation of student learning and outcomes.
- Facilitate building learning progressions and common formative assessments based on Idaho Content Standards.
- Track and monitor student evidence to assess the effectiveness and impact of learning cycles.
- Engage in weekly meetings with the principal to discuss the implementation of the research-based coaching model.
