Kiln Operations Supervisor

Job Summary:

Meherrin River Forest Products is hiring a Kiln Operator Supervisor. This position is a full-time opportunity to work with a World Class Team in the Hardwood Industry. Responsibilities will include the operation and management of an air-dry yard, boiler and kilns at our Crewe, Virginia facility. Our facility has top of the line equipment and a team of people driven to high standards in our community, workplace, and products.

Responsibilities:

• Operation of Kilns and Boilers to insure bright properly kiln dried Lumber while maximizing Kiln production.

• Training and directing of Assistant Kiln Operators and schedule daily coverage.

· Assist in repair and Maintenance of Kilns, Boiler plant and fuel loading system, includes Weekly testing of venting/heating systems.

• Provide accurate forecasts of Kiln turn days and production scheduling.

• Assist in proper scheduling of Fuel deliveries and fuel loading.

• Ability and willingness to Grade Lumber according to NHLA standards when needed.

• Work with forklift Operators to unload/reload Kilns.

• Oversees operation and maintenance of wood fired boilers and coordinates night and weekend on-call schedule.

· Obtain an understanding of and assist in Inventory Control of Air-Dry yard and stacker.

Qualifications:

• Working Knowledge of Best Management Practices in Drying of Hardwood Lumber

· Excellent working knowledge of NHLA grading rules.

• Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.

• Leadership skills

• Communication skills

· Ability to work effectively as a TEAM and promote a positive work environment.
