The Strategic Programs and Critical Infrastructure Division (SPCID) Strategic Development Group (SDG) within SPA provides acquisition, systems engineering, program management, operations, and lifecycle support to numerous major government projects. The primary customer we support is the Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). Our mission is to provide timely and objective assessments, recommendations, and decision quality information that integrates technical, operational, programmatic, policy, and business analyses. We work to provide integrated solutions to our customers to ensure clear and consistent analysis and recommendations that are aligned to strategic and leadership goals while remaining executable by the working level technical communities.

SPA is seeking Junior Systems Engineers for employment in support of the multiple lines of business under the Strategic Systems Programs umbrella.

Responsibilities:
This position is an exciting early-career opportunity to provide Systems Engineering (SE) Professional/Engineering Support Services (ESS) to the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Program Office.


Specific tasks include:
  • Provide technical support for the entire system life cycle for hardware and software testing, modeling and simulation, as well as flight-testing.
  • Assist in the development of major program documentation, modeling and simulation verification, validation and accreditation plans, systems requirements verification plans, safety packages, and test planning briefing packages.
  • Support subsystem and system level engineering tasks, and the development and execution of capability validation plans, which includes reporting on the phase of development and status towards verifying achievement of Weapon System Requirements.
  • Provide systems engineering services assisting in the planning and execution of government engineering and review events, support the oversight of contractor engineering development tasks, and conduct assessments and provide recommendations regarding systems engineering activities.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Either a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or 5 years of demonstrated relevant work experience.
  • Eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a quick learner who adapts easily to frequently changing requirements and thrives in an exciting environment.

Desired Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year practical experience in a DoD contracting environment with direct client interaction.
  • Some unique skill or knowledge pertaining to systems engineering (e.g. Design Of Experiment, statistics, Modeling & Simulation, analysis, and Department of Defense experience or familiarity).
  • Familiarity with the DoD Acquisition Process.
  • Experience working in an acquisition program office environment with documentation, protocols, formats, and deadlines.
  • Active Secret or above security clearance.
