The role
To help support our rapid growth, we are seeking a Junior Associate - Property Accounting for our corporate office Property Accounting team in Indianapolis, Indiana. The primary responsibilities of the Junior Associate - Property Accounting will include assisting Associates with month-end close and preparing monthly/quarterly lender reimbursement. This position reports directly to the Controller of Property Accounting.
What you will do
- Assist Associate with month-end close duties for assigned portfolio, including but not limited to:
- Bank reconciliation for operating/savings accounts
- Management fee calculation and invoicing
- Maintain Balance Sheet Audit workbook/supporting documentation and draft adjusting/reclass journal entries.
- Enter OpEx invoices for assigned portfolio
- Pull Gl detail/support for monthly/quarterly lender reimbursement
- Other tasks assigned by management
- Limited travel – 5-10% of total hours as required for continuing professional education, site visits, and corporate/employee events
What you will need
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0-1 year of experience, preferably in real estate finance, development, or investment
- Strong MS Excel skills and proficiency in financial accounting and reporting software, preferable RealPage, OneSite, and/or Financial Suite
Skills and competencies:
- Ability to concisely articulate critical data points for strategic decision making in team environments
- Efficient, accurate, and timely (key themes of our department)
- Ability to provide and receive critical feedback
- Self-starter
- Structured, organized, and capable of fulfilling a wide range of responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail is required
- Effective communication within the organization, both verbally and in writing
- Sensitivity to confidential matters and information is required
- Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines
