  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $19.04 - $31.02.

Multnomah County Circuit Court
, located in Portland, Oregon. It is the Fourth Judicial District and is the largest in the State of Oregon. The court has over 320 staff, including 15 hearing referees and 38 judges working in four courtroom facilities in Multnomah County.
Position Highlights:
The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Judicial Services Specialist 3 (Floating Courtroom Clerk).
NOTE: This position is part of a classification study. The study may result in a change to the current job profile and salary in Spring 2023.

You will perform administrative duties and projects that are directly related to the judge’s team, docket assignments, and court operations in partnership with the judicial assistant and the larger Judicial Support Department. Much of your day will be spent providing moderate to complex clerical support to a judge and judicial assistant, processing complex documents or records (both hard copy and electronic) and providing priority courtroom coverage during multiple case types.
In the courtroom, you will prepare the room for trial, swear in witnesses and jurors, monitor proceedings, and respond to security needs, manage exhibits, keep trial records, operate/monitor the digital For-The-Record (FTR) recording, and coordinate assembly. In the chambers, you will maintain both the courtroom’s and judge’s calendars, update court proceedings, aid in case tracking, and review documents filed with the court for accuracy and completeness.
You will have frequent interaction with judges, attorneys, parties to cases, and to many people who are facing challenging life circumstances or stressful situations. The workload can be heavy, at times, and involves frequent interruption, noise, and distraction.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least two (2) years of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Position of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent of life or work experience.

Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Long periods of sitting in the courtroom.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Parking
Multnomah County Circuit Court does not provide parking for courthouse or justice center staff. Flexible spending accounts are available to reimburse parking or transportation costs up to a certain amount each month, if staff elect to have these funds held from their monthly paycheck.
Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
