Teachers shall be employed for the regular school year at the appropriate step on the negotiated salary schedule.Roll and Responsibility1.Teachers are responsible to the building principal at the assigned school center in carrying out a program of direct student instruction and supervision.Duties: 1. Shall implement a program of pupil instruction in accordance with Ohio Minimum Standards for Elementary and Secondary Education in compliance with all local policies, procedures, and negotiated agreements.2.Shall perform all procedures and tasks required for program implementation and record keeping at the grade level, course area, and special area to which he/she is assigned. This includes special procedures which pertain to Vocational Education, Special Education, state and federal projects, or elementary vs.

secondary education.3.Shall implement a program of instruction in accordance with the adopted courses of study and consistent with demonstrated student needs and abilities.4.Shall formulate written instructional plans, making reference to the adopted course of study, subject matter to be covered, and the materials to be utilized.5.Shall participate periodically in the review, revision, and updating of curriculum.6.Shall be responsible for the management and discipline of students assigned to his/her supervision.7.Shall supervise students in the care of school property and the safe use of equipment.8.Shall provide for regular testing, grading, and reporting of pupil progress.9.Shall maintain documentation to support pupil attendance and grade reports.10.Shall record grades on permanent student records.11.Shall make available lesson plans and instructions for a substitute when absent.12.Shall administer standardized tests and other tests in accordance with district policies and procedures to provide for regular pupil and program evaluation.13.Shall perform non-teaching duties deemed necessary by the building principal.14.Shall be available to parents for conferences regarding individual student progress.15.Shall work cooperatively with other staff members in the best interest of students.16.Shall keep the building principal completely informed as to important class activities and student concerns.17.Shall assist with the identification and programming of students with special needs or handicapping conditions.18.Shall maintain positive relations with parents and community members.19.Shall take an active interest in school activities.20.Shall work cooperatively with school-related groups.21.Shall strive to continually improve and update subject matter knowledge and teaching skills.22.Shall submit requisitions for necessary supplies, materials, and equipment in accordance with district purchasing procedures.23.Shall conduct an annual inventory of classroom materials, supplies, textbooks, and equipment.24.Shall take an interest in local, state, and national professional organizations.25.Shall be available for other duties as assigned by the building principal.
