The Inside Sales Specialist provides quotations with regards to the selection, price, design and delivery of critical equipment to industry, municipalities, contractors, agriculture and domestic water systems.
This role is for an experienced customer service individual interested in customer facing work to start in inside sales to learn about our products. A detailed team player who will communicate and collaborate with outside business partners, internal teams, suppliers, factories. Within your purview will be a team of industry experts, both in-house and nationwide, consisting of suppliers, product engineers, field service engineers, technicians, installers, and sub-contractors. All working together to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Primarily inbound inquiries supporting new and existing accounts. Quotations of technical equipment, parts, and services. Equipment could be for direct replacement or new installation. The successful candidate must be confident in their own sales ability as this is a revenue-generating results driven position.
We want to see you succeed and grow in this position. Your product knowledge will expand tremendously over time as you apply yourself. Your goal will be to gain a solid understanding of how our specialty products integrate and interact within different pumping systems. Product complexity will increase over time as you gain increasing exposure to engineered products and systems.
Minimum Experience:
The selected candidate will bring 2+ years of experience in similar technical product sales.

- Industrial or Municipal Pumps
- Agricultural Pumping Equipment
- Electric Motors
- Mechanical Parts
- VFD – Variable Frequency Drive Control Panels
- Valving
- Water Systems Equipment

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree….or satisfactory successful experience. Preferred degrees are in Industrial Distribution, Business, Engineering Technology, Construction Management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- You align words and actions to model reliability.
- Extremely Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly form and develop relationships
- Ability to understand and further your learning of pump hydraulics, mechanics, hydraulic design, electrical design, construction practices and process.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Good math skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and to review and compare technical product information.
- Eager to meet or exceed customer expectations, and achieve daily commitments.
- Strong nature to compete for and be awarded quotations.
- General proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to understand both customer and company interests and consider them both in a fair and reasonable standard.

NON-Essential, but preferred complementary skills:
- Advanced understanding of: pumps, construction, hydraulics, and application of rotating equipment, systems curves, wire to water efficiency calculations, integrated electrical controls, fluid and mechanical systems
- Software Proficiency with: ERP’s, CRM’s, Adobe, systems, and Pump Selection Software, and other equipment configurators.
- Ability to comprehend hydraulic motion, and its relationship to system performance.
- Understanding a chain of input/output system reactions.
- Ability to understand how complex automatic control valves operate and their performance within a system.
- Product Application…..Anticipation of issues, flaws, and requirements of system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience in trouble shooting, repairing or servicing centrifugal pumps or equipment is an asset although not a prerequisite.
Principal Details of Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Assist phone customers, walk-in customers, inside sales team, and managers with the preparation of quotations, and associated correspondence.
- Answer incoming phone calls, disburse messages, manage email flow.
- Continually build rapport and relationships with internal and external customers.
- Respond to customer inquiries quickly, effectively, accurately and professionally.
- Provide solutions to fluid handling challenges and increase sales through the development of customer relationships and providing an understanding to our customers of the many products and services offered.
- Advise on best practices, products, services, and designs. These include: Reliability, Efficiency, Serviceability, Replacement Availability, Total Lifecycle costs and more. We are a trusted resource.
- Process pick tickets, returns and credits.
- Collect competitive market data for sharing with the marketing team, sales staff and operations team.
- Be a voice of the customer, advocating for the customer’s needs.
- Relationship based selling is a core tenant of this position’s success.
- Customer satisfaction and retention.
Quotations
- Identifying decision makers.
- Equipment selection, sizing, costing, research requests for duplicate equipment from serial number records, and develop current pricing
- Research Bill of Materials and identify components from historical and online documents
- Update and research recommendations for designs, product replacements or system improvements.
- Utilize vendor portals.
- Communicate with suppliers for pricing, delivery, and technical information.
- Receive and process customer purchase orders into supplier orders through to deliverables.
- Document communications regarding pricing, delivery schedule, product information.
- Time management – Aptitude for effectively prioritizing tasks as the workload varies.
- Carefully review customer purchase order for accuracy and compliance with our offer. Enter order information.
