Position Summary:
Federal Data Systems is looking for a Level 3 Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE). The ISSE is responsible for conducting information system security engineering activities that capture and refine information security requirements and ensure their integration into information systems through purposeful design and configuration.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Lead a small team of ISSEs.
  • Validate and verify system security requirements, conduct security control assessments, and establish system security designs for cloud-based and hybrid systems.
  • Identify and implement appropriate information security architectures and configurations to ensure compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations. Recommend and develop technical solutions based on current and desired system security architecture.
  • Propose, assess, coordinate, implement, and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout the system life cycle.
  • Analyze and assess system implementation against multiple security compliance policies, identify points of vulnerability and non-compliance, and recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Twenty (20) years’ experience as an ISSE on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline. Five (5) years’ experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI/Full Scope Polygraph.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 3 is required. Both CISSP and either ISSEP or ISSAP certifications are required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with common security tools (such as Nessus and Splunk), communication protocols, and encryption techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with NIST and CNSS control documentation, the RMF, STIG compliance, and the DoD Assessment & Authorization process
  • Knowledge of and experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of and experience with securing cloud-based systems.
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification.
  • Scripting knowledge.
  • Understanding of regular expressions.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.

Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

Background Screening/Check/Investigation:
Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
