POSITION: HUMAN RESOURCE & PAYROLL SPECIALIST
DATE AVAILABLE: Immediately
SALARY RANGE: $30.00 - $33.00 per Hour
HOURS: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB CLASS: Office/Clerical

ACCOUNTABILITY DESCRIPTION
The Human Resource / Payroll Specialist is expected to provide excellent customer service skills to prioritize and execute tasks in an efficient manner and produce quality and accurate work, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. S/he is expected to meet performance standards set by management and to comply with all company policies and procedures. The Human Resource / Payroll Specialist - reports to the Controller.
The Human Resource / Payroll Specialist - performs the following:
- Prepare and process in-house - full cycle payroll weekly, for two companies, approx. 100 employees, using Sage
300 US Payroll software
- Process weekly / monthly / quarterly contributions for: Payroll taxes, 401k, garnishments, union fringes
- New hire set up / Terminations
- Manage employee benefits: health insurance: open enrollment & new hires, retirement plan (401k), Paid Time
Off (PTO), ACA reporting, and Cobra.
- Maintain company and personnel policies and procedures; employee handbook, new hire packets, first report of injury packets
- General understanding of union contracts
- Monitor Labor & Industries’ claims
- Participate in monthly Safety Meetings
- Maintain positive relations with vendors and co-workers
- File, organize and maintain all paperwork connected with above-referenced tasks
- Become proficient with using company computer programs
- Maintain department confidentiality
- Become knowledgeable of the company’s policies and procedures
- Participate in cross-training
- Learn basic trade vocabulary
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must possess the following requirements and skills:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resource experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of in-house payroll processing (preferred)
- Ensures compliance with all State and Federal Laws
- Must be very detail oriented in his/her work ethics
- Excellent ten-key and keyboard skills
- Ability to handle conflict

- Possess good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to accurately and calmly handle multiple priorities with interruptions and still meet deadlines
- Takes pride in one’s work and accepts a level of responsibility for his/her professionalism and accuracy
- Projects a friendly, professional attitude towards vendors and co-workers
- Proficient in using Microsoft products, includes Outlook, Excel and Word
- Ability to participate productively in a team environment
- Previous construction industry and or union experience is a plus
- History of good employment attendance
- Self-starter

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:
- Ability to see, hear well (either naturally or with correction) and speak clearly
- Coordinate the movement of your eyes, hands, and fingers
- Reach for, handle, use fingers and manipulate objects
- Physical requirements include: standing, bending, and sitting; repetitive motions of hands and wrists
- Frequent computer screen use
- Must be available to work extended hours when job/business requires
