HR Generalist Job at SafetyCall International, PLLC/Pet Poison Helpline
SafetyCall International (SCI)/Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) is growing and looking for a HR Generalist to join our team! This individual is responsible for performing various duties including managing employee relations, performance management, recruitment, employee engagement and more.
The HR Generalist is a part-time, Monday-Friday position that will be expected to work 4 hours shifts each day (20 hours/week) during normal business hours. Flexibility with scheduling is available and will be discussed on an individual basis during the interview process.
The position is eligible for to work 100% remotely from home if outside the twin cities, but would be expected to work 1 day in office if located within 60 miles of the home office in Bloomington, MN.
Responsibilities
- Manage employee relations and performance issues/concerns working closely with the HR Manager, Director of HR, senior leadership, and supervisors. Advise on and/or participate in various employee disciplinary actions including verbal and written warnings, performance improvement plans, and termination of employment as assigned.
- Assist in managing FMLA, ADA and Worker’s Compesation situations as they arise.
- Administer various human resource policies and procedures for all SCI employees; assists in the development and implementation of HR related policies and procedures as assigned.
- Participate in the recruitment process including posting open positions, screening and interviewing applicable candidates and extending offers to qualified candidates.
- Participate in all required training and continuing education sessions.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with all coworkers.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Under the direction of senior leadership, act as unbiased investigator and conduct employee investigations as they arise.
- Actively participate in monitoring and improving employee morale and engagement including working directly with supervisors on areas of concern.
- Support supervisors in the performance evaluation process as assigned.
- Support SCI employees in questions or concerns related to employment at SCI.
- Maintain employee records and compile reports from databases as needed.
- Attend in person recruiting events as requested which may include travel throughout the United States.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings and attend seminars to stay up to date on HR topics and trends.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor and senior leadership.
Other Responsibilities as Assigned:
- Actively participate in the onboarding process with new hire employees including administration of new hire paperwork, benefits information and company orientation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial relations OR equivalent experience working in the HR field completing HR tasks such as performance management and employee relations.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR active certification highly preferred.
- At least three years’ experience assisting and/or leading employee relations efforts.
- Proficient in using all Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Verbal and written communication that is clear, concise, accurate, professional, empathetic and compassionate on a regular basis.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to be efficient, complete all assigned projects in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
- Ability to problem solve and actively provide solutions.
- Proven ability to collaborate with others internally and externally.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all areas both inside the organization and externally.
- Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely and accurate decisions.
- Can quickly adapt to changes in workflow, policies and procedures.
Remote Requirements:

Pay & Benefits:
- Pay Range: $28.85/hr-$31.25/hr
