Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Role Overview:
This health care professional position is responsible for supervising the professional field staff who conduct onsite surveys in agencies at health care facilities including Home Health, Hospice, Dialysis and Rural Health Clinics. The position must ensure, through scheduling and monitoring, that certification, complaint and revisit surveys are conducted in prescribed time frames and that the field staff conduct the surveys according state and federal protocols, policies, and procedures. The position utilizes specialized knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations; training and experience in the survey process; and application of the principles of good clinical practice.

This is a field position for a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Indiana and whose license is in good standing. Individuals residing in Central Indiana who meet qualifications are encouraged to apply. Previous Surveyor experience preferred.
About the Job:
As the Public Health Nurse Surveyor Supervisor, you will be responsible for the supervision of Public Health Nurse Surveyors and oversight of the implementation of survey protocols to determine compliance with federal certification and state licensure requirements in various health settings throughout the state.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Ensure that all surveys are scheduled, completed, and submitted timely in accordance with federal certification regulations and state licensure requirements.
- Explain and interpret regulations, policies, and protocols for staff.
- Review and evaluate surveyed service providers corrective action plans.
- Coordinate with Training Director in assessing training needs, developing programs, and conducting orientation and refresher training programs for surveyor staff.
- Respond timely to health service provider inquiries regarding survey issues, questions, and problems.
- Monitor quality of all survey reports ensuring compliance with the Federal Principles of Documentation.
- Provide both on-site and remote oversight supervision and guidance to field surveyors during surveys to ensure consistency of survey protocol application and practices.
- Responsible for discussing certification questions and problems with facility administrators and for making final recommendations regarding licensure and/or certification.
- Responsible to assist surveyors in identifying significant adverse findings and communicating those findings immediately to appropriate Directors.
- Provide expert testimony in administrative hearings and court regarding survey results and recommendations.
- Participate in the selection, onboarding, and training of surveyors to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work performance adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of Indiana.
- Thorough knowledge of federal certification standards and state licensure requirements for the provider types surveyed.
- Thorough knowledge of operational and administrative components of provider types surveyed.
- Thorough knowledge and ability to assess effectiveness of individual care plans and delivery in provider types surveyed.
- Ability to monitor the effectiveness and adequacy of survey inspection and investigation teams.
- Ability to observe and recognize adverse health and safety conditions and non-compliance situations and take appropriate actions.
- Ability to prepare and review initial certification surveys, recertification surveys, follow-up surveys and complaint investigation surveys.
- Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
- Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
