This is a contract position through October. Must be available 2 days per week (can be flexible but must be the same two days each week).
As a Competency Nurse, you will conduct the Home Health Aid (HHA) Competency Assessment for new home care aides to meet the requirements of the Medicare Condition of Participations (COPs). You will also evaluate the competency of individuals who will provide Home Health Aide services to our clients. This includes skills checks for, but not limited to:
- Physicians’ orders-HHA Plan of Care
- Documentation/Advance Directives/DNR
- Reporting change in patient condition or skin condition/breakdown
- Reporting change in body function/Pain Mgt.
- Communication skills/ability to read, write, and report clinical info to clients, family and other caregivers
- Vital signs – temp, pulse and respirations
- Maintenance of a clean, safe, and healthy environment
- Basic elements of body functioning and reportable changes
- Safe transfer techniques and ambulation
- Positioning/Re-positioning
- Recording nutrition and fluid intake
- Hoyer lift
- Physical, emotional, and developmental needs of client
