TITLE: High School Library Technical Assistant - Scioto HS

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the Library Media Specialist in support of the library media program to efficiently operate the library environment to meet the learning goals of students and staff within the Dublin City Schools district.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Library Technical Assistant (LTA) degree, certification, or equivalent experience (minimum of 5 years in technically progressive library.)
- Proficiency in OCLC PRISM software; MARC record creation; all functions of Winnebago CIRC/CAT and Spectrum software, including Local ACE module, or demonstrated aptitude in administration of computerized library catalogs.
- Proficiency in the administration of electronic library circulation/cataloging systems.
- Working knowledge of library technical procedures, available library technology, and other resources.
- Good human relations with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
- Must present self in a professional manner.
- Willingness to take direction and learn new skills with meticulous attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Use computer and technology skills to maintain an online catalog, and facilitate materials circulation, as well as general library work: word processsing spreadsheets, specific library computer programs.
- Initial troubleshooting contact for the maintenance and repair of computer resources such as printers, laminator, issued students devices, and library computers.
- Maintains schedule for the Library Media Centeer.
- Helps students and staff with locating and using print and digital resources, other instructional materials and software programs.
- Assists in the computerized inventory and weeding of library materials and equipment, and compiles appropriate statistical reports.
- Assists in the ordering, cataloging, processing, and shelving of incoming materials.
- Assists in ordering and maintaining a current inventory of supplies.
- Assists library media specialist in computerized reporting of student attendance each day and summarizing stastictics.
- Assist in maintaining student discipline in library areas to enable a learnng atmosphere.
- Assists in training and using student and volunteer aides.
- Assists in the distribution and collection of materials to/from students and staff.
- Assists in maintaining accurate spreadsheets and forms for the accounting of all funds collected through the library media center.
- Works with the building principal and library media specialist to ensure a smooth and timely flow of library operation.
- Ensures the safety of students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
- Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
- Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
- Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
- Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
186 Days (178 days, 8 paid holidays); 8 hours per day excluding lunch. Salary as provided in the Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board of Education.
SALARY: $19.66/HR. TO $21.74/HR.
