Kansas City Composting, a subsidiary of St Louis Composting Inc., producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends, is accepting applications for a Heavy Equipment Operator position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift
- Transport bulk materials to and from customer trucks, haul trucks, material bins, etc.
- Operate color/dye machine for mulch products.
- Perform routine maintenance on loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Load and unload yard waste and organic materials from the back of company vehicles, on site and on routes.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order & review maintenance logs for repairs.
- Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors, drivers and crew, laborers and operators, and customers serviced.
- Safely operate loader and perform mechanic and general labor duties.
- Maintain good housekeeping around the plant site.
- Perform daily safety inspections, report defects or problems for equipment operated.
- Load bins to ensure appropriate stock levels and load haul trucks while maintaining safe area for stock piling and customer load out.
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of heavy equipment operator experience with proven safety record.
- Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge and skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to follow instructions, take direction well and be able to adapt to changes in the operation.
- Be a team player, willing to help wherever necessary and have a "can do" attitude.
- Strong work ethic and be able to remain busy the entire day, looking for new tasks or where else to help when your tasks are completed.
