St. Croix Health is currently seeking a full-time Health Information Specialist. This position is responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process and prepare documents according to the required department procedure including document imaging, sorting, prepping, scanning, indexing and analysis
• Maintain and protect confidential information
• Data entry and data abstracting tasks
• Vital statistics reporting
• Provide timely customer service
• Perform department administrative duties

Education & Licensure:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Education in Health Information Management, Health Care Sciences or other four (4) year degree may be substituted for years of experience.
• RHIT or RHIA certification/eligible preferred

Experience:

• Minimum – One (1) year of healthcare, insurance or administrative support related experience required
