Job Title: Education Specialist

Position Summary:

This position is accountable for the supervision of classroom staff and the coordination day-to-day operations for this model.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and evaluate the teachers and teacher assistants and monitor the implementation of the classroom model
  • Meet regularly with teaching staff to communicate current program information and provide assistance and support to the staff with their caseloads and day-to-day operations
  • Design, implement, and monitor required paperwork/data entry for program assessment, reporting requirements and continuous quality improvement
  • Collaborate with local school districts and agencies to ensure access to needed services and smooth transitions for children and families
  • Collaborate with other service areas, including early intervention, positive behavior support, family services, and health services, to ensure that comprehensive services are provided
  • Regularly assess staff needs and assist in the planning and implementation of professional development activities
  • Guide staff and parents in the development of school readiness goals for children on their caseloads through activities, materials, communications that represent best practices and use of standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Act 114, Act 34 and Act 151 required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field and three years’ experience or Master’s Degree in above field and two years’ experience. Master’s degree and/or certification preferred
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of best practices related to preschool curricula, instruction, standards, screenings and assessments
  • Successful experience working with at-risk children and families
  • Possesses highly refined communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability and experience in working as a member of a team
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft office Suite including Word, Power Point, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to work with new technologies
  • Such additions and alterations to the above qualifications as the Program Administration and Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to comply with AIU conduct policy
