SUMMARY

Provide a safe and secure environment for all occupants of the property by ensuring that the premises is maintained in accordance with all laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to safety and security. Maintain a hospitable and service oriented environment by greeting, hosting, and maintaining friendly relationships with all guests, employees, and outside visitors.

CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Often posted at entry points, welcoming and greeting guests.
  • Ensure guests and patrons are authorized to be inside a venue, checking identification, using registries and guest lists, and issuing wristbands or other security measures.
  • Remind guests, patrons, and employees of safety and security policies with an attitude of dignity and respect, maintaining a positive and fun environment.
  • Roam the entire property on foot monitoring for safety or security issues and promptly reporting or solving these issues.
  • Occasionally manage conflict between guests, patrons or employees and utilize knowledge and training to resolve issues safely and effectively solve conflicts.
  • When necessary and appropriate, ask guests, patrons, employees or outside visitors to leave the property. Will be able to handle such issues with dignity and respect and must recognize when these situations become a safety or security concern. Will take steps to report or correct the problem keeping the safety of everyone involved at the highest priority.
  • Respond to emergencies on the property and take necessary steps to report or correct the situation.
  • Use a radio, telephone, email account, or face to face contact to communicate with guests and employees regarding any safety and security concerns or issues. Will then immediately take steps to solve or report the problem, and will follow up with guests or employees to ensure total satisfaction.
  • Assist with all medical emergencies large or small and be able to administer first aid to guests and employees and will recognize when emergency medical attention needs to be contacted.
  • Complete investigations and prepare written reports for incidents regarding medical emergencies, property loss and damage, or other criminal activity occurring on the property.
  • Maintain an inventory of lost and found property, and will be responsible for communicating with guests in person, over the phone, or through email, and will prepare shipments of property to return to guests.
  • Record all daily activity on a typed Daily Activity Report.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the layout of the building and public space. Being familiar with the fire alarm communication system, stand pipe, and sprinkler system.SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS

In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:

  • Maintain friendly contact and rapport with all employees and take active steps to ensure that all employees feel safe and can trust the security department with any issues.
  • Maintain friendly contact with guests, patrons and outside visitors, to create an environment of hospitality and enjoyment among all visitors.
  • Provide miscellaneous services regarding customer service, such as carrying and delivering guest luggage, delivering various amenities to rooms, providing concierge services such as restaurant recommendations, reservations, directions or other services upon request.
  • Provide assistance to other departments upon request such as delivering or transporting of property, assistance with small maintenance tasks, bussing tables and clearing drinks, moving and setting up of AV equipment, assisting with keeping grounds clean, or receiving deliveries.   • Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
  • Other language, mathematical, and reasoning abilities as outlined below.
  • Ability to comply with physical demands as outlined below.

  • Technologically sound with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to stand in one place for extended periods of time, and to remain on feet for up to 8 hours.REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma required, Prior hospitality, bar, or nightclub experience preferred. If applicable, must have certifications, licenses, and/or training as required by local, state, and federal laws. Additional First Aid, CPR, and/or AED training is preferred.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:

  • Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests.
  • Ability to acknowledge guests’ requests in a polite manner.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).
  • Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Lift / carry 10lbs (frequently) and 25lbs (occasionally)
  • Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machine
