POSITION TITLE: Groundskeeper
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the upkeep and appearance of all exterior areas, both on and off site. This is to include but not limited to parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, all grass and shrub areas. Maintain all sprinkler systems and grounds equipment, schedules all work to be completed, keep accurate records, and other duties related to the maintenance of the grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Engineering Department and Sky Lakes Medical Center.
- Water’s lawns, flowers, and shrubs adequately during growing season.
- Schedules, mows and trims all grass areas.
- Applies proper fertilizers in growing areas as needed.
- Administers pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides as needed.
- Maintains driveways, parking lots, entrances, etc., in a clean and neat condition at all times.
- Delivers and picks up departmental parts and supplies.
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to all grounds keeping equipment, and sprinkler systems.
- Plants new flowers and shrubs as needed.
- Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrances, and exit areas by the appropriate method.
- Protects his/her personal safety, the safety of fellow workers and hospital visitors by operating all grounds keeping equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Insures an adequate supply of grounds keeping materials and supplies are on hand or ordered.
- Assist Engineering personnel as needed.
- Demonstrates competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization. This will be apparent by ongoing completion of any or all of the following: proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operation; and Must have valid driver’s license or reliable transportation and maintain acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
Two years maintenance and grounds keeping experience.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Medium-heavy physical demand level capabilities required. Must be able to work independently as well as with co-workers. Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently. Must be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs.; work in hot and cold temperatures; work with toxic chemicals.
PAY RANGE: $16.30 - $23.77
