Possition Summary*
Fulltime Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm
Salary Range $32-$35 an hour

Position Summary

• Perform all technical aspects of grossing and dictating surgical specimens using a variety of laboratory materials and equipment
• Process specimens to achieve maximum accuracy, efficiency, and productivity
• Gross and dissect small, uncomplicated specimens giving accurate measurements and descriptions

using pre-defined template protocols

• Prepare dissected tissue specimens and place into cassettes
• Accurately input examination, patient and analysis data into laboratory information system
• Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification
• Track and maintain Specimen so that it can be followed from the time the specimen is received, sent out and the report is available.
• Verifies the accuracy of all information given is consistent with requested tests
• Respond to questions by physicians and other clinical staff in a timely manner.
• Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.
• maintain and keep a clean workstation

Required Qualification (Education, Skills & Abilities)

Education/Training

• Associate in Science Degree
• 1+ years of Medical Lab experience
• 1+ years of grossing experience
• Must meet CLIA/CA Grossing Guidelines
• Previous Dermatology experience preferred

Additional Skills

• Knowledge of the importance of speed
• accuracy, and care when dealing with limited accessibility to specimens
• Familiarity with computers and strong typing skills
• Knowledgeable in the handling of specimens from accessioning to final specimen storage
• Working knowledge of laboratory organization, operational procedures, quality control and assurance and laboratory safety
