Job Purpose Statement: The Head Soccer Coach will leadand organize the assigned high school athletic program. Lead in establishing an environment in which student/athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image. Direct the promotion of sportsmanship, a winning attitude and commitment to student academic success.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct and superviseorganization of practice sessions during the regulated season; to include seasonal goals and objectives.
  • Work cooperatively with parents, other coaches, staff, administration and support programs.
  • Assists the Athletic Director in maintaining the care for athletic facilities and aid in preparation of the facilities for athletic competition.
  • Assists Athletic Director in purchasing equipment, supplies and uniforms for the HRVHSSoccer program.
  • Assists Athletic Director in game scheduling when needed.
  • Responsibleto conduct pre-season meeting with all athletes and parents, outlining schedules, student athletic contracts, and Student Athletic Handbook.
  • Works to improve skills and knowledge of each athlete and the team as a whole.
  • Organize team members according to competitive levels.
  • Enforces appropriate team rules and team discipline.
  • Follows guidelines and principles of sportsmanship.
  • Adheres to requirements of athletic eligibility.
  • Adheres to District Athletic Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures of league or other rules.
  • Works harmoniously with high schoolAssistant Coaches, community volunteers, parents, and school personnel.
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing,with students, parents, officials, and staff.
  • Submitsrosters, equipment and uniform inventories and other reports as required.
  • Coordinates end of year awards, communications, and events.
  • Monitorsexpenditures in relation to budget and assist as in monitoring proper use, care, and return of uniforms and other assigned equipment.
  • Supervisesand/or arranges for proper supervision of student/athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
  • Coordinates and is responsible ofall media communications at the high school level related to the HRVHSSoccer program.
  • Consults with Athletic Director and Administration concerning playing conditions, safety concerns, program improvements, player performance, outside complaints, and other related matters.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skills possessed will exemplify a moral character that is consistent with being a positive role model for all students. Skill and ability to teach soccerskills and fundamentals.

Knowledge ofsoccer at the high school level (to include recent rule changes). Through cooperation and communication with assistants,developa system of play that can be effectively communicated with to implement at the high school level. Ability to communicate effectively with athletes and parents. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

Ability to work harmoniously with others. To organize and manage students time effectively. To use problem solving strategies consistently. Adjusts to performing practices in a variety oflocations. Ability to motivate students.

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previousexperience coaching youth, middle school or high school soccer.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.

License, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; district pre-employment, post offer drug screening and physical abilities assessment; annual mandatory trainings; NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification or ASEP Certifications; Concussion training, Heat Illness Prevention, Performance enhancing Drugs & Substances Training, First Aid/CPR Certification. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

The salary will be basedon 14% of the 2022/23 Licensed Salary Schedule, Column BA, Steps A-H. Step placement is determined by theHuman Resources Department and is basedon verified years of prior paid coaching experience in the same sport, at the same responsibility level.
