SMX is seeking a Geospatial Engineer SMX to join our Global Open-Source Threat Network Disruption Cell ("GOST Cell"). GOST utilizes publicly available information (PAI), non-traditional intelligence gathering and exploitation methods to provide our customers with insight to counter counterdrug (CD) and counter trans-national organized crime (CTOC). The GOST Cell utilizes commercial subscriptions, social media, financial transactions, and open-sourced geospatial data to identify, disrupt, and interdict trans-national threat networks responsible for illicit drug trafficking, illicit financial flows, and the illicit trafficking of people, wildlife, natural resources, and weapons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee team in the collection, analysis, and evaluation of geo-fused products and services
- Provide expert support and advice to open-source collection, analysis and reporting techniques
- Produce operational insights and recommendations for new tradecraft to fully exploit the demonstrated sensors technology and data to counter transnational organized crime and fill capability gaps
- Interface with customer and provide expert-level counsel on technical matters
- Study, evaluate, and report on spatial data providers in digital and graphic form
- Utilize available industry data, including market data available for purchase, outside reports, and other data provided by the requested agency, to identify threat networks
- Provide analysis and assessments of commercially available and open-source data, with a specific focus on the geospatial domain, to deliver actional intelligence reports
- Apply expertise in operations, intelligence, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and collections to enhance the client mission
- Succinctly incorporate measures of quality assurance and quality control prior to release of intelligence reporting
Required Skills
- Required clearance: TS/SCI
- Knowledge of internet-based research, including Boolean logic, search engine and database resources, and internet sources, including social media, social networking tools, data exploitation, and commercial- and industry-based databases
- Scripting in python or model builder to automate geospatial workflows
- Strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data, solve problems, and effectively communicate results to senior leaders and decision makers
- Routinely demonstrate expertise and technical proficiency in the use of Electronic Light Table (ELT), Motion Imagery (MI) processing and exploitation tools, and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications to support analytic efforts and product development
- Fuse multidiscipline sources to provide accurate and timely geospatial analysis
- Succinctly incorporate measures of quality assurance and quality control prior to release of intelligence reporting
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and tradecraft standards to deliver analytic findings in textual form, graphic annotation, or other formats as directed by the government customer, and develop and present briefings to support customer requirements
Required Experience
- Subject Matter Experts do not have specific experience/education qualifications but are typically identified as recognized Industry leaders for a given area of expertise
- Experience with Python
- Strong knowledge of ArcMap and other ESRI products, and fundamental GIS principles
- Advanced degree in a related field, eg, Geography, GIS, Data Science, Mathematics preferred
- Experience in imagery-based cartography, photo interpretation, photogrammetry and/or other geospatial applications
- Experience with advanced search techniques, information databases, data visualization, and related tools
- Intel Analyst Experience in any of the following disciplines: open-source exploitation, targeting, geospatial intelligence products, or statistical analysis
- Experience utilizing commercially available unclassified analysis toolsets including but not limited to: Windward, Anomaly Six, and Sayari
- Knowledge of other intelligence disciplines, including signals intelligence (SIGINT), human intelligence (HUMINT), Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT)
- Experience with publicly available information (PAI) analytic principals
