General Science Teacher

Lawrence School (8th grade)

2022-2023 School Year

Qualifications:

• Massachusetts licensure General Science, 5-8
• SEI endorsement, preferred
• Ability to teach all levels of middle school science
• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment, Master’s Degree preferred
• Demonstrated experience in successfully motivating students of varying ability levels, skills and achievements.
• Such other qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.

Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Department Head, develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught relating them to the needs of the students and the district and state learning standards.
• Implement a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student engagement and achievement.
• With the Department Head develop a clear and consistent grading rubric for courses.
• Keep accurate and appropriate grading and attendance records.
• Develop effective relationships with students.
• With the Department Head develop curriculum objectives and implementation strategies based on the learning standards of the state curriculum frameworks.
• Evaluate each student's progress in science skills and understanding.
• Communicate with parents and counselors about the progress of individual students.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
• Effectively manage classroom operations.
• Accept supervision and guidance from Department Head and Principal.
• Such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and/or Department Head.

SALARY: In accordance with FEA contract.
