Funatix Events oversees the event management, marketing, sponsorship, ticket sales operations, and media for numerous events locally and statewide. These events include: one of the oldest rodeos in the world, the Mandan Rodeo Days, Bismarck’s largest three-day running event, the Bismarck Marathon and the Dacotah Speedway.
Who We’re Looking For
Funatix Events is looking for an Assistant General Manager in Bismarck, North Dakota to lead, support, and grow local and statewide events through sales, marketing and event planning initiatives. We’re looking for a passionate, talented and positive person who strives for excellence, happiness and inspires the same in others. The Assistant General Manager will work closely and report directly to the Funatix Events General Manager.
The Position
As the Funatix Events Assistant General Manager, you will help sell, plan and execute event elements while creating a fun, entertaining and memorable atmosphere for event attendees. In addition, you will ensure all event elements, marketing strategies, activations and operation logistics are planned, fulfilled and executed while providing the highest level of service and experience to attendees and sponsors.
You’ll work closely with Funatix Events General Manager and Marketing Director to assist with sponsorship and event sales, activation and operation planning for large scale events. This includes but is not limited to meeting with potential sponsors, assisting with the execution of all sponsorship contracts, acting as an account executive for clients, planning and organizing day of logistics, and ensuring the ultimate fan experience at all events.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, development and execution of all marketing and event logistics including but not limited to sales, servicing and activation.
- Responsible for developing relationships with local CEO’s, Presidents and decision-makers to sell corporate event tickets and sponsorships
- Develop leads and actively prospect daily
- Make call and set meetings each day throughout the week with potential leads
- Act as a central contact for employees and clients during all event management planning and logistics.
- Analyze event calendar and determine appropriate staffing levels. Assist with the oversight of staff by creating and maintaining schedules based on part-time employee availability and event schedules.
- Research new event opportunities within the community.
- Assist with new event proposals.
- Assist with event settlements and budgets.
- Research, schedule and conduct meetings with potential sponsors.
- Record weekly meetings and calls in CRM system.
- Assist with sponsor and event contracts and invoicing.
- Understand objectives and goals of partners in order to develop measurable, integrated activation strategies that drive business results.
- Assist with the implementation and execution of partner contractual elements including but not limited to, in-stadium activations, digital & social media campaigns, print media, hospitality, consumer promotions, community programs, events etc.
- Support in compiling sponsor-specific information for sponsorship fulfillment reports and post-event recaps.
- Be proactive in meeting all deadlines, ensuring projects are proofed, released and approved on time, and on budget.
- Develop regular reports on sales, event and marketing progress.
- Attend weekly Funatix Events meetings.
- Assist with guest/attendee relations and ensure customers have the best experience possible.
- Oversee operations and assist with decisions in General Manager’s absence.
- Work all Funatix Events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Availability to work all Funatix Events
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- Previous experience in sales and/or service preferred
- Previous experience in project and event management preferred
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide vision and direction
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to multi‐task, prioritize workload and time manage
- Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management,, business partners, board members, guests, attendees and fans
- Must display the ability to be resourceful with internal assets
- Ability to think creatively and adapt to quick changes/requests
- Self‐ motivated, ability to take initiative and learn
- Proficient in the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc)
- Enthusiastic team player, shows enjoyment and interest in working collaboratively

- Vacation days are awarded at the discretion of the General Manager with no maximum number of days allowed per calendar year. All vacation requests are to be received at least two weeks prior to needed time off. Vacation time is discouraged during peak event timeframes due to event responsibilities. In the case of illness please provide notice to the General Manager as early as able.
