The Role

As a Frontend Software Engineer at Saildrone you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality, user friendly interfaces across our suite of internal and customer facing web and mobile web products.

You should have a solid understanding of modern web technologies as well as experience or at least enthusiasm for modernizing code.

This is a frontend role, but you’ll also be exposed to some backend and middleware services (Node & Python). You’ll work closely with other engineers, designers and product managers to help define feature requirements and execute on them.

Required skills and experience

• Professional experience building, testing and deploying customer facing web applications using React, Redux, TypeScript, jQuery, VanillaJS, HTML & CSS.
• BS/BA

Desired skills and experience

• Map Libraries: Google Maps, Mapbox, Open Street Maps, Cesium
• Data Viz Libraries & APIs: D3, Canvas, SVG, WebGL, kepler.gl, Three.js
• DevOps: Kubernetes, Docker, CI
• Protocols: Websockets, gRPC, protobuf
• Languages: Python (Django)

Location: This position is remote-friendly by based out of Alameda, CA. Only candidates with proper permits to work in the United States can be considered. Our waterfront office offers beautiful views of San Francisco Bay in always sunny Alameda. Even our walls have good karma, our offices mix software development with a hardware production line in the former airplane hangar used to film 'The Matrix'.
