As a Drivability/Smog Check Technician you will quickly and efficiently perform routine maintenance and identify the cause of breakdowns and repair them using the most optimal solutions. The Drivability/Smog Check Technician is responsible for setting goals for personal service improvement and monitor progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production numbers as provided by the Service Manager. As Drivability/Smog Check Technician, you must be experienced and aware of the latest automotive technologies and be a persistent problem solver.

Salary Rage: $42,000 - $162,800 annually

Responsibilities:

  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
  • Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
  • Keep shop area neat and clean
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
  • Inspect vehicle fluid levels and replace or replenish as necessary
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Check tire pressure and add air if needed
  • Perform Multi-Point inspections on new and pre-owned vehicles
  • Maintain accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil; replace oil and air filters
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are well-informed of any additional services needed
  • Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Service Technician experience, preferred
  • Ford Certified preferred
  • ASE Certification preferred
  • A-level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
  • Broad knowledge of new vehicle technologies
  • Ambitious, hardworking presence in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
