Requirements:
' 6 months Institution, Cafeteria or restaurant cook experience
' Experience with recordkeeping, inventory control and report writing.
' Knowledge of sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance.
' Have or obtain Food Handler's Certification within 60 days of hire
' Have or obtain ServSafe within 6 months of hire
' Have valid driver's license to drive company vehicle

Preferred:
' Experience with menu planning and nutritional principals.
' Experience in food preparation, cooking and serving in quantity
' Experience with Food ordering and estimation
' Bilingual in English/Spanish to communicate with monolingual customers

Duties and Responsibilities:
' Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement the daily operations and activities of the kitchen facility.
' Organize, coordinate, and prepare the food in sufficient quantities for meal services.
' Plan the menu within well established guidelines.
' Ensure that the kitchen and servicing facilities are maintained and operate in a safe and sanitary manner, monitoring conditions and procedures always.
' Provide technical information and assistance to the Director regarding assigned food service operations and functions.
' Ensure that food items are properly prepared, cooked, stored, and served in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner and in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
' Assist staff and volunteers in preparing, cooking, serving, and packaging all foods and in washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, kitchen areas and utensils.
' Assist management with reports on numbers of meals, inventory receipts and inventory; prepare production sheets for all meals prepared in the kitchen (if needed for funding).
' Train and provide work direction to staff and volunteers in food preparation, handling and serving including compliance with appropriate health and safety regulations.
' Communicate with vendors and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information regarding meal programs within the community.
' Operate and maintain a variety of food services appliances and equipment in a safe and sanitary manner.
' Will be going up and down stairs frequently as kitchen is in the basement and serving is on the main floor.
' Maneuver up to 35lbs.

Hours: Full time

Pay: $15.00 to $17.00 an hour depending on experience

Language skill requirement or preference: Able to speak Spanish preferred. Able to read Spanish preferred. Able to write Spanish preferred. To communicate with monolingual customers
