The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is currently recruiting for multiple Food Service Assistant 2 positions, to work as members of the Dietary Services team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
Sign-On Bonus of $2000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the job for one year. $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.
Under the general supervision of the Food Service Manager, the Food Service Assistant 2 interprets diet orders to serve standard and modified meals on tray lines, in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. In addition, this position assists with quantity food production, performs breakfast or grill cooking, transports food carts between kitchen and servery areas, and participates in catered functions. The incumbent is an integral part of the food service team.
The positions work standard 10-hour shifts including weekends on a rotating basis and require working overtime as needed.
The duties of the position include maneuvering carts weighing an average of 500 pounds safely through hallways, move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance, and performing work that is medium to heavy in nature.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:
- In production assembly (e.g., measuring quantity, ensuring standards, meeting quota, labeling and dating, quality checks, prepping supplies and equipment, reading production lists/sheets, working line stations, following production schedules, tallying, inspecting product, maintaining clean and safe area, setting up and taking down equipment, loading and unloading, etc.)
