Title: Food Program Lead

Reports to: Y Café Manager

Job Summary:

The Food Program Coordinator’s main function is to prepare and serve Bright Beginnings students meals, wash dishes, and assist in the café.

General Responsibilities:

• Uphold and reflect the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all functions
• Uphold the YMCA of Hannibal policies and programs
• Possess excellent customer service skills; for example, friendly, personable, helpful, patient, and professional
• Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members, and staff
• Must be self-motivated and able to multi task
• Promote a cooperative, positive, and flexible atmosphere while working with others in a diverse environment
• Must be able to work mornings, afternoons and weekends, if needed.
• Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards

Job Duties:

• Cook meals as directed by the food program standards
• Assist Y Café Manger filling out daily food logs and food count sheets
• Reviews of all staff on year anniversary.
• Maintain a great relationship with health and sanitation inspectors, food program auditors, and food program monitors.
• Maintain accurate record of everything used daily
• Assist in creating menus for the children that are nutritious but also fun for the children
• Provide well balanced meals as planned out by the USDA
• Maintain cleanliness of all work areas
• Attend all scheduled meetings

Skills, Education, and Experience

• Maintain an up-to-date CPR, First Aid, AED certification
• Food Handlers Certificate
• Strong communication skills and organization skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Be punctual, show up on time for your shift
• Project professional appearance
• High level of energy and creativity
• Commercial baking/cooking experience preferred
• Ability to follow verbal or written direction
• Must have knowledge of commercial food preparation, sanitation, and preparation (preferred)
• Must attend food training yearly and keep food certification up to date.

Physical Qualifications:

Speaking, hearing, seeing, reading, writing, typing, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing for at least 8 hours.

Working Conditions:

Food Program Coordinator will be working with members, staff and their children daily. They will be working outside and inside depending on the day. They will be standing for most of the shift preparing food. They will be helping to keep the room organized and clean at all times.

Restrictions:

• Prohibited from using cell phones, laptops, tablets, or any other distracting devices while on shift.
• Prohibited to eat in the kitchen
• Must wear tennis shoes, gloves, hat and facial covering (if facial hair) while working.
• All employees are required to work at least 8 hours per month to maintain complimentary membership status.
• All other guidelines must be followed in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
• Must maintain 29 hours work week.
