The mission of Bexley Montessori School in Land O’ Lakes is to educate and nurture young children in a joyous, supportive environment created by excellent teachers and staff following the Montessori education. Montessori education serves to meet the needs of the whole child; it is our desire that the children be academically motivated, artistically creative, physically active, and emotionally supported.

We are looking for a Floater to join our team! The Floater spends time in different classrooms, subbing for teachers. The potential candidate will be responsible for maintaining a professional, cooperative, harmonious relationship with parents, students, and others within our school setting, while providing coverage in classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • CPR and First Aid certificate preferred or ability to maintain within 30 days of hire.
  • DCF mandated 45-hour training preferred or begin within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of an active learning environment; bending, sitting, walking, standing for 30-minute intervals and the ability to get up and down.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, growing and changing environment.
  • Must have the ability to follow instructions and perform duties with minimum supervision
  • Floater must maintain a positive relationship with parents, children, and co-workers
  • The position requires punctuality and reliability
  • Must have use of a car/means of transportation and valid Driver’s License.
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of our children and families.
  • Ability to care for children in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Speaking spanish is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow DCF and TBMS regulations, procedures, and policies; ensure child safety in the classroom and outside the classroom setting.
  • Utilize a variety of positive discipline approaches.
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop self-esteem, confidence and independence.
  • Acknowledge each child at his/her own developmental level and create a classroom environment that respects and builds on this level considering each child’s unique personality and cultural background.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and sensitive information.
  • Discuss and report pertinent issues and/or concerns with immediate supervisor. A list of required reporting will be reviewed annually and kept on file.
  • Participate as a member of a professional team to solve problems and share ideas.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as specified by the Director.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
