This role offers onsite/remote hybrid schedule- work in the Keene, New Hampshire office on Mondays and Tuesdays and other days as necessary for tax filings/ workload.

In this role you’ll be… part of the Markem-Imaje NAM Controlling team; responsible for reconciling tax accounts, preparation of sales and use tax returns, supporting all tax filings, speaking with customers to resolve tax issues, file business licenses and annual reports, compliance testing and other related general accounting and clerical functions.

You’ll have an opportunity to… be part of a global service organization working closely with US and Canada Customer Service, as well as assisting customers with issues related to taxes. You will have the opportunity to identify and execute process efficiencies and to work with a variety of departments and personnel at Markem-Imaje.

You should possess… strong time management skills, strong organizational skills, general knowledge of sales and use tax concepts, excellent communication skills, process oriented and ability to recognize and suggest improvements and be keen on making a difference in the organization.

Principal Activities/Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reconcile taxes to the general ledger
• Propose adjusting entries as needed
• Prepare all sales and use tax returns for US and Canada
• File all required types of tax filings and payments accurately and timely
• Liaise with state and local agencies to resolve queries
• Review state legislations to determine relevant taxability
• Work with ICT and VERTEX to solve tax database queries
• Automate Tax Returns
• Record and file customer tax exemption forms
• Work with internal departments and customers to resolve customer tax short payments
• Approve tax credits
• Manage tax audits
• Business license filings
• Annual reporting
• SARBOX compliance testing

Education and/or Experience Required:

• Recent college graduates with relevant degree and experience welcomed
• Bachelor degree in Accounting or related preferred; Associates Degree with Sales and Use Tax experience also considered
• VERTEX Tax Software experience helpful but not required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Tools, Word, Excel, and Access
• SAP experience a plus
• Experience in an outsourcing environment a plus
