Service Tech- EXPERIENCED (CHICAGO AREA)

Description:

B&K Equipment is seeking an individual to become a part of our growing team. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, will be a reliable self-starter who is able to work autonomously, takes initiative and has pride in their work with attention to detail. A Service Technician installs, maintains and repairs fuel dispensers, submersible fuel pumps, service station site controllers, credit card readers, POS consoles, tank and line (ATG) monitoring equipment and various other types of equipment found in service station and convenience gas stations.

• Experience with electrical controls and electronic wiring
• Experience with computer tasks such as software installation, installing

hard drives, networks, routers, printers and other components. Mechanical Aptitude

• Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrates organization skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Team oriented, with the ability to build consensus and effective relationships in a cohesive business environment.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to respond promptly to service calls or emergencies as they arise.

Responsibilities:

• Take daily directions from the Service Manager on calls to be performed
• Respond to after-hours emergency service requests for "site down" or other priority situations in an on-call rotation
• Daily local travel
• Work varying hours based on workload and customer need
• Maintain a company furnished vehicle and inventory of repair parts
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions
• Completing online and classroom training courses, including regular re-certifications
• Communicate with warehouse personnel in order to verify inventory and replenish what is needed on truck
• Complete all service call paperwork after each call
• Explain technical issues in a non-technical manner to the customer
• Install, troubleshoot and repair dispensers such as Wayne, Gasboy, Gilbarco and Bennett.
• Install, troubleshoot and repair POS (Point-of-Sale) Systems such as VeriFone and NCR.
• Install, troubleshoot and repair ATG’s such as VeederRoot and Franklin Fueling
• Analyze electrical and mechanical problems and provide repairs as required

Experience and Education:

• High School diploma or GED
• Valid State Issued Driver’s License and good driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
• Ability to pass a drug test and background check
• Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs
• At least 2+ years’ experience in the petroleum industry troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining fuel dispensing units including dispenser electronics and hydraulics and submerged pump units.
• Hold valid dispenser certification(s).
